Bhubaneswar, Nov. 19: A low pressure system is likely to form over the south east Bay of Bengal on November 22 and gradually intensify into a deep depression or cyclonic storm on November 26, SOA’s Center for Environment and Climate (CEC) said on Wednesday.

The system is likely to cross south Andhra Pradesh coast near Machilipatnam on the night of November 27 or forenoon of November 28, a CEC bulletin said.

It will weaken while hitting the coast but under its influence widespread rain may be experienced over south Odisha with heavy fall in some places between November 26 to 28, it said.

The bulletin said the cold condition prevailing over Odisha for the last fortnight was likely to ease as the night temperature was set to increase gradually. The prevailing condition was due to strong radiational cooling along with north-north-westerly dry cold winds blowing from north India, the bulletin said.

It said the wind pattern now was erratic with south-westerly, easterly or south-easterly wind blowing towards Odisha while the humidity percentage in the lower atmosphere was rising. There was probability of foggy weather during day time with possibility of light rainfall in coastal districts, particularly towards the south, on November 20 and 21 due to feeble easterly wave, the bulletin said.
