Bhadrak, Jan 2: In another case of heinous crime in Odisha, a minor girl was allegedly raped and thrown into river in the Bhadrak district.
The incident though took place in the Chandbali area on 24th December 2025, it came to limelight as the survivor’s mother lodged a complaint on Friday.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested a married man, confirmed Additional SP Bhadrak Arup Abhishek Behera.
According to the complaint, the minor girl was reportedly abducted by a miscreant. Meanwhile, she was rescued from the Baitarani River in a critical condition, after a strategic search operation. She was admitted to the SCB Medical College & Hospital for resuscitation where she informed her ordeal to the bereaved mother.
Following this, police registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused on the charges of abduction, rape and attempt to murder.
"We had received a complaint about the kidnapping of the minor girl. Based on the statement of the girl and subsequent investigation, the accused was arrested and forwarded to the court. The minor girl is now undergoing treatment at the hospital," said the Additional SP.
