Malkangiri, Oct 30: Police in Odisha’s Malkangiri arrested three persons for allegedly looting a businessman and recovered 120 grams of stolen gold, Rs 4.50 lakh in cash from their possession.

Police also seized a motorcycle and a car from their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Suman Kumar Acharya (25) from Borigumma, K Murali (35) from Jaypur, wand A Srinivas Acharya (55) from Nabarangapur.

As per reports, the miscreants attacked a businessman, identified as Subhash Rajaram Patil (45), on June 3 while he was returning home from his jewellery shop at Bandabakuliguda under the Sadar police limits in the district.

Thereafter, the thieves snatched a bag containing over 1 kg of gold and cash from Subhash before fleeing from the scene. Following this, Subhash lodged a complaint with Sadar police based on which police swung into action and nabbed the culprits.

Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Vinodh Patil briefed the media and stated that the accused were involved in a similar gold heist case in the past.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
