Chennai, January 18: The CBI has once again summoned Tamil actor and TVK leader Vijay to appear in New Delhi on Monday regarding the investigation into the Karur stampede. The tragedy occurred on September 27, 2025, during a political rally in Karur, where Vijay was campaigning for TVK.

The stampede resulted in 41 deaths, leading to widespread outrage and an intense investigation, now monitored by a committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ajay Rastogi.

The CBI has already questioned several senior TVK officials, including Bussi Anand, Adhav Arjuna, Nirmal Kumar, and Mathiyazhagan. After gathering evidence and statements, the agency decided to question Vijay about his role in the event. Vijay was first summoned on January 12 and questioned about his knowledge of the event's arrangements, his delayed arrival, and the crowd management efforts. He provided detailed answers and returned to Chennai afterward.

Following the Pongal festival, Vijay is now scheduled for a second round of questioning in Delhi as the CBI continues its probe into the tragic incident.
