Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: The state government has significantly increased the financial incentives offered to Maoists who surrender along with their weapons. As per the revised policy, a Maoist surrendering with a light machine gun will now receive Rs4.95 lakh, while surrendering with an AK-47 will fetch Rs3.30 lakh. Those surrendering with an SLR rifle will be granted Rs1.65 lakh.

The compensation for Maoists carrying cash rewards has also been revised. A Maoist with a Rs10-lakh reward on their head will be eligible for ₹5 lakh upon surrender.

Top-level Maoist leaders stand to receive the highest benefits under the updated scheme. Politburo and Central Committee members will be granted Rs1.10 crore, while State Committee and Special Zonal Committee members will receive Rs55 lakh. Regional Committee members will be provided Rs33 lakh, and Divisional Committee members will receive Rs27.5 lakh or Rs22 lakh, depending on their category.

In addition to financial compensation, the government has announced that all minor cases registered against surrendered Maoists will be withdrawn.
