Bhubaneswar, November 14: The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Office of Central Range, Cuttack, organized a stimulating and insightful event as part of the Cyber Safety Awareness Campaign 2025 on Friday. The event featured a Range-Level Debate Competition aimed at raising awareness about cyber safety and the urgent need for proactive measures to protect sensitive data from the growing threat of cybercrime.

The competition was conducted in both Odia and English, allowing students from various linguistic backgrounds to participate. Junior and senior level students actively engaged in the debate, presenting innovative ideas on cybersecurity, its challenges, and possible solutions. Their contributions not only demonstrated their understanding of the current digital landscape but also highlighted the increasing need to safeguard personal and organizational data from cyber threats.

The theme of the event, "Cyber Safety Awareness," emphasized the importance of knowledge and best practices in protecting sensitive information from a wide range of cyber risks. Cybersecurity awareness involves understanding and adopting practices that can mitigate risks like hacking, phishing, malware attacks, and data breaches. By being well-informed about these threats, individuals—whether students, employees, or general citizens—can play a critical role in defending personal and organizational assets in today’s digital age.

Dr. Satyajit Naik, the respected Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Central Range, Cuttack, was the chief guest of the event. In his speech, Dr. Naik stressed the need to cultivate a culture of cyber safety across all sectors, particularly among the youth, who are becoming increasingly involved with technology and social media. He commended the participants, acknowledging that the debate competition was a great initiative to encourage students to think critically and offer practical solutions to complex cybersecurity challenges.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where Dr. Naik presented awards to the winners for their outstanding performances.
