Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Manoranjan Sahoo, a former Senior Clerk of the Hindol Sub-Treasury in Dhenkanal, for allegedly misappropriating government funds amounting to Rs 68,85,497. The arrest was made late last night after Sahoo remained absconding for nearly two years to evade action.

According to Vigilance officials, Sahoo fraudulently withdrew funds meant for family pension beneficiaries. Instead of depositing the sanctioned amounts into the pensioners’ accounts, he allegedly diverted the money to his own bank account as well as those of his relatives, systematically siphoning off government funds.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Cuttack Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 32/2024). Following his arrest, Sahoo is being produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal.

Odisha Vigilance has stated that further investigation into the financial fraud is currently underway.
