Rayagada, Feb 12: A police bus’s brakes failed today at Shiriguda Chowk during the ongoing bandh in the city, but thanks to the quick thinking of the driver, a major accident was narrowly avoided.

The bandh, called by various central labor organizations including the United Forum and Independent Federation, was observed across Rayagada, causing traffic congestion at key intersections. Hundreds of protesters were present, and police personnel were deployed for security arrangements. Journalists were also on site reporting the event.

The bus, carrying 38 police personnel from Rayagada to attend a Chief Minister’s program in Nabarangpur, suddenly lost control. Passersby screamed as the vehicle skidded, but no serious injuries were reported. Authorities reached the site shortly after the incident.
