Empowering farmers and journalists through prestigious national recognition ceremonies today.

New Delhi recently hosted a significant gathering as the Kisan Trust organised the second edition of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Awards 2025. This prestigious event, held in the national capital, celebrates the enduring legacy of Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh, the former Prime Minister known for his unwavering commitment to the farming community. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Union Minister Jayant Singh attended as a special guest.

Highlighting the ceremony was the presentation of the Kalam Ratna Award to Harvir Singh, the Editor-in-Chief of Rural Voice. This award recognizes his extensive contribution to journalism, specifically his dedication to highlighting the challenges and triumphs of rural India. Singh noted that receiving an honour named after the legendary leader was a moment of immense pride and emotional significance.

Other notable awardees included Satyawan Sehrawat, who received the Kisan Award for his progressive farming techniques. Dr. D.K. Yadav was honoured with the Krishi Utthan Award, while the Seva Ratna went to the Pratham Education Foundation for their impactful work in the social sector. This year also marked the debut of the Agricultural Entrepreneur Award, which was presented to the Fruvetech Organisation for their innovation in the sector.

During his address, Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised Jayant Chaudhary for carrying forward the simplicity and pro-farmer ideology of his grandfather. He recalled how Chaudhary Charan Singh fearlessly opposed cooperative farming and dismantled the zamindari system to give land ownership back to the farmers. He emphasised that the former Prime Minister was a beacon of hope for the poor and never compromised on their interests.

Jayant Singh remarked that the event was a unique moment where farmers gathered not to protest, but to celebrate excellence. He emphasized that these awards are not just accolades but a responsibility to continue the mission of rural empowerment. Agricultural scientist Dr. Devendra Yadav and other dignitaries also spoke about the importance of science and policy in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047, a goal that relies heavily on the strength of its farmers.
