Durgapur, Oct 14: While as many as five accused were yet arrested in connection with gang rape of an MBBS student at Durgapur in West Bengal, the Asansol-Durgapur Police on Tuesday took the survivor’s boyfriend to custody.

The Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissioner Sunil Kumar Choudhary,confirmed the fresh arrest in the ghastly crime this afternoon.

The boyfriend hailing from Odisha was under the sleuths’ scanner for his unmatched statements and suspected activities shown during the crime scene recreation.

Besides the recent arrest of the boy friend, the West Bengal Police have so far arrested six accused persons in the heinous crime involving an MBBS student.

Earlier, the police had arrested five others including a former college security guard, a hospital staffer, a civic worker, and an unemployed youth, whose presence was revealed at the crime spot.
