Bhubaneswar, November 5: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will visit Nuapada on Thursday for campaign in support of BJP candidate Jay Dholakia in the Nuapada Assembly byelection.

Sai, a senior BJP leader, is scheduled to address a public rally at Panchampur in Nuapada and also campaign in some areas in the district bordering Chhattisgarh.

Nuapada shares borders with Mahasamund and Gariaband of Chhattisgarh thereby triggering a Chhattisgarhi influence among voters.

The bypoll was necessitated by the death of four-time BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia. BJP fielded his son, Jay Dholakia, banking on sympathy and legacy.

BJD has fielded Snehangini Chhuria seeking votes in the name of Rajendra Dholakia. Congress threw its weight behind Ghasiram Majhi, runner-up in the 2024 general elections as an independent.

Meanwhile, all three major parties - BJP, BJD and Congress - have deployed their leaders across the Nuapada Assembly seat for the crucial bypoll.

Ministers, MPs, MLAs were spotted taking morning walks, chatting over tea.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, BJD president and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik kicked off the campaign in Nuapada seeking votes in the favour of their candidates while Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das has been camping in the poll-bound Nuapada monitoring the campaigning activities and finalising strategies to win the bypoll.

Nuapada byelection will be held on November 11 and the results will be declared on November 14.
