Bhubaneswar: Indian para badminton players, including outstanding athletes from Odisha, delivered a stellar performance at the Egypt Para Badminton International 2026, held in Cairo from 13th to 18th January 2026, winning multiple medals and underlining India’s growing dominance in para badminton on the international stage.
 
Odisha’s ace shuttler Pramod Bhagat was the star performer of the tournament. In the SL-3 Men’s Singles Final, Pramod clinched the gold medal after a thrilling three-game encounter against compatriot Umesh Bikram Kumar. Displaying immense resilience and skill, he bounced back strongly to win 19–21, 21–15, 21–13.
 
Pramod continued his golden run in the SL-3 / SL-4 Men’s Doubles, partnering with Sukant Kadam. The Indian duo secured another gold medal, receiving a walkover in the final against Umesh Bikram Kumar and Suryakanta Yadav.
 
Adding to India’s medal tally, Odisha shuttler Pujyam Mishra earned a bronze medal in the SL-3 / SL-4 Men’s Doubles, partnering with Mantu Kumar. The pair put up a commendable fight in the semifinals before going down to Umesh Bikram Kumar and Suryakanta Yadav by *21–18, 21–15*.
 
Another proud moment for Odisha came from Nurul Hossain Khan, who won the bronze medal in the WH-2 Men’s Singles category. He reached the semifinals and eventually lost to Mohammed Kareem Abbood Alameer (Iraq) by 21–06, 21–09.
