Mumbai, Feb 16: Mumbai Police have arrested six more individuals in connection with the shooting incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence in Juhu. According to the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, the accused were apprehended in Rajasthan and are being transported to Mumbai. This brings the total number of arrests to 11.

Following the shooting, the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging the state government to intervene and ensure a swift investigation along with enhanced security measures for the film fraternity.

In its letter, IMPPA expressed grave concern over the incident, describing it as "deeply concerning" and highlighting the anxiety it has caused within the industry. The association warned that such events could create an atmosphere of "fear and insecurity" among artists, producers, technicians, and others working in the entertainment sector.

The letter further emphasized Rohit Shetty’s contributions to Indian cinema, stating, "Rohit Shetty has not only made immense contributions to Indian cinema but has also consistently supported social causes and national initiatives. It is therefore deeply concerning that such an incident should occur at his residence."

Voicing its concern, IMPPA stated that the incident has raised widespread anxiety among the film industry, stressing the need for enhanced security measures to reassure those in the entertainment sector. "We respectfully request your immediate intervention to ensure a swift, thorough, and transparent investigation into the matter," the letter urged. The association also called for the reinforcement of security measures to ensure the safety of Shetty, his family, and the broader film community.

The shooting incident took place on February 1, when a group of assailants fired at least five rounds outside Rohit Shetty's residence in Juhu. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
