Khordha, Dec 10: A college principal in Khordha district has been arrested on charges of sexually harassing a woman lecturer. According to police, the accused principal allegedly sent obscene text and voice messages to the lecturer and repeatedly called her, even during class hours, urging her to join video calls.

Sources said the woman lecturer had joined the Chemistry Department of a Bolagarh-based college a few months ago. Soon after, the principal began sending her inappropriate messages, which caused her severe mental distress. She eventually informed her parents, following which her father lodged a formal complaint at the Bolagarh Police Station.

In the complaint, he alleged that the principal would frequently send vulgar messages and profess his love for the lecturer. He also reportedly made indecent remarks through voice recordings and insisted on video calls during her teaching hours.

Concerned about the safety of women employees and students within the institution, the lecturer’s father demanded strict action.

Acting on the complaint, Bolagarh Police registered a case and arrested the principal. The incident has triggered widespread discussion in the local area, raising questions about safety and conduct within educational institutions
