Bhubaneswar, December 8: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for several districts in Odisha, warning of drop in night temperatures over the next few days. Dense fog is also expected in some regions, further intensifying the chill.

In its latest bulletin, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for Sundargarh and Kandhamal, where dense fog is anticipated at isolated spots between the mornings of December 9 and 10. Cold wave conditions are also likely to affect isolated areas of Sundargarh, Angul, and Jharsuguda during the same period.

Looking ahead, the IMD has extended its cold wave warning from December 10 to 12. The department predicts that cold wave conditions may impact isolated regions of Sundargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Sonepur, and Cuttack throughout this period.

The IMD has also forecast a significant dip in minimum temperatures across urban centres. Bhubaneswar is expected to experience temperatures as low as 11°C on December 11 and 12, while Cuttack could see a drop to 10°C during the same period.
