The atmosphere in Jordan’s capital is electric as the Indian community eagerly counts down the hours to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival. The visit, which marks the first leg of his significant three-nation tour, has sparked a wave of enthusiasm among Indians living in the region, who are working tirelessly to ensure a memorable reception.

Preparations are in full swing, with a special focus on cultural presentations that highlight India’s rich heritage. For many participants, performing in front of the Prime Minister is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. One of the dancers involved in the welcome program shared her emotions, stating that she has been rehearsing for a week. She described her feelings as a mix of high energy and nervousness, eager to showcase her talent on such a prestigious platform.

This sentiment is echoed throughout the diaspora in Amman. Community members have expressed that hosting the Prime Minister is a matter of immense pride. The anticipation is palpable, with many noting that they are looking forward to the interaction with great respect and joy.

A Historic Three-Nation Tour Begins

Prime Minister Modi departed on Monday for a tour that will take him to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman. Before leaving, he emphasized that the trip is designed to strengthen India’s bonds with West Asia and Africa—regions that share deep historical and civilizational links with India.

The stop in Jordan is particularly special as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between New Delhi and Amman. Invited by King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, PM Modi noted that this visit celebrates a major milestone in the friendship between the two nations.

High-Level Engagements

During his time in Amman, the Prime Minister has a packed schedule. He is set to engage in high-level talks with King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. The discussions aim to bolster bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Additionally, he will hold a dedicated interaction with the Indian community, acknowledging their vital role in fostering good relations between the host nation and India.

Following his engagements in Jordan, PM Modi will proceed to Ethiopia for his inaugural visit to the African nation, where he will address a joint session of the Parliament. The tour will conclude in Oman, where the focus will shift to enhancing strategic and commercial partnerships.
