Raipur, February 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah renewed his appeal for Maoists to abandon violence and join the mainstream of development. Speaking in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, during the Bastar Pandum festival, he assured the Maoists that they would receive dignified rehabilitation if they laid down their arms. He emphasized that the fight against Naxalism aims to protect tribal villages and ensure their future.

Shah warned that those continuing violent acts, including planting explosives or attacking villages, would face strict action. He pointed out that Maoism had only caused destruction, while Bastar was transforming into a symbol of progress.

Highlighting ongoing development projects, he assured the people that within five years, Bastar would become the most developed division in Chhattisgarh. Plans include full electrification, mobile connectivity, access to healthcare, and essential services for every village. Additionally, tribal farmers will benefit from paddy procurement, free rice, gas cylinders, and piped water.

Shah also announced major projects like a new industrial zone, an irrigation project, the Raoghat-Jagdalpur rail line, and vocational training for 90,000 youth. He praised the region’s tribal culture, expressing pride in its unique dances, languages, and traditions, which were showcased at the festival.

He paid tribute to the security forces who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Naxalism and assured that Bastar would be Naxal-free soon. Concluding his speech, Shah reiterated that Bastar's identity lies in its rich cultural heritage, not in violence.Bottom of Form
