​​​​​​​New Delhi, January 1: Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court in Bihar.

At present Justice Sahoo is working as a Justice in the Orissa High Court.

The Ministry of Law & Justice issued a notification in this connection  on Thursday in pursuance of the President of India’s approval.

President Droupadi Murmu appointed Justice Sahoo as Chief Justice of Patna High Court by exercising the power conferred upon her by Clause (1) of the Article 217 of the Constitution of India.

Earlier, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the appointment of Justice Sahoo as Chief Justice of the Patna HC.

Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo, enrolled as an advocate in 1989, has a distinguished career specialising in criminal and service law. Elevated to the Orissa High Court bench in July 2014, he also served as the Executive Chairman of the Odisha State Legal Services Authority.
