Keonjhar, Feb 18: A calf in Darakhala village under Ghasipura police limits suffered critical injuries after chewing on a crude explosive device meant for hunting wild boar. The explosion left the animal in severe pain, and authorities say no medical treatment could be administered due to the extent of the injuries.

The calf, owned by Bhima Munda of Darakhala village, was grazing near a forest edge when it accidentally consumed the bomb. Villagers report that similar incidents have occurred recently, including attacks on other livestock such as elephants and cows.

Locals have called for strict action against those responsible for planting the explosive, emphasizing the danger such devices pose to both animals and humans in the area.

The incident highlights growing concerns over illegal hunting practices and the use of hazardous explosives in rural communities.
