Bhubaneswar, January 19: A significant crackdown on road violations in the Central Range of Cuttack has resulted in the inspection of 15,272 vehicles and the collection of ₹65.46 lakh in fines.

The operation, namedOperation Jeevan Rakshya, ran from January 7 to January 18, 2026, spanning the seven districts of Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khordha, and Nayagarh.

Led by Dr. Satyajit Naik, Inspector General of Police (IG), Central Range, Cuttack, the operation aimed to enforce traffic regulations, improve road discipline, and reduce accidents. Under the supervision of district police officers, particularly the Superintendents of Police (SP), extensive checks were carried out on public transport, heavy vehicles, and other motor vehicles. Key violations targeted included overloading, non-compliance with safety gear requirements, and incomplete or expired documentation. No major criminal activities were reported during the drive.

On January 18, 2026, additional checks were conducted across the districts, yielding the following results:

  • Vehicles Checked:1,372
  • Fines Collected:₹7.39 Lakh

The highest number of inspections took place in districts with heavy traffic, underscoring a targeted approach to tackling road violations and promoting safer road practices.

The Central Range Police encourages all road users to:

  • Comply with traffic regulations at all times
  • Wear helmets and seat belts
  • Avoid speeding, drunk driving, and overloading
  • Ensure valid driving documents and vehicle fitness
