​​​​​​​Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), February 22:Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat Train today, marking a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh's development. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that this event would open a "golden chapter" in the state's progress. In a post on X, CM Yogi highlighted that PM Modi would also inaugurate projects worth over ₹12,000 crore in Western Uttar Pradesh.

"Today, a new golden chapter in the development journey of 'New Uttar Pradesh' begins," CM Yogi posted. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the 'Meerut Metro' and 'Namo Bharat' train in Meerut, which is playing a pivotal role in shaping the state's modern infrastructure. Additionally, various development and public welfare projects worth ₹12,930 crore will be launched in the district."

The Prime Minister will also dedicate the 82 km-long Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation and inaugurate the final sections of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This step is expected to set a new benchmark for integrated urban and regional transportation, CM Yogi said.

At around 12:30 PM, PM Modi will flag off the Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat Train from Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station. Following the flag-off, he will take a Metro ride to Meerut South Station. At 1 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new development projects in Meerut and address the audience.

The Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor, spanning 82 km, will also see the inauguration of India’s first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This includes a 5 km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, and a 21 km stretch between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh. Designed to run at a speed of 180 km/h, the Namo Bharat RRTS will provide faster connectivity between key urban hubs such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut, and Delhi.
