Bhubaneswar, Nov 27: The All Odisha Bus Owners’ Association (AOBOA) has called off its planned statewide bus strike, which was set to begin on December 1.

The decision comes after the Odisha government clarified that it has not granted additional motor vehicle checking powers to the police, addressing the concerns raised by the association.

Earlier, the AOBOA had threatened to halt bus services across the state, citing fears of harassment and potential disruption to operations if the police were granted additional powers for vehicle checks. However, following the government's assurance, the association's general secretary, Debendra Kumar Sahu, confirmed that the issue has been resolved.

Sahu added that discussions with the Transport Department have further reassured bus operators, confirming that no such decision regarding enhanced powers for the police has been made. With this clarification, the association has decided to call off the strike, ensuring that bus services will continue as scheduled.
