Puri, Jan 23: An unfortunate road accident occurred on Puri's Nabakalebara Road when a bus hit an elderly woman from behind, leaving her severely injured. The woman was rushed to the Puri hospital for medical treatment due to her serious condition.

The incident triggered local protests, and in response, residents blocked the road. The Tehsildar and police arrived at the scene to manage the situation and helped resolve the standoff, leading to the removal of the roadblock after some time.

As a form of immediate relief, the elderly woman was provided with ₹50,000 as compensation. Additionally, the Chief Minister's Relief Fund will also contribute to her compensation.
