Clinical batting and bowling display secures comfortable Super Six win

India’s young cricket stars continued their dominant run in the ongoing ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup with a crushing victory over Zimbabwe. Playing at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, the Indian team proved too strong for the hosts, winning the Super Six encounter by a massive 204 runs. This win further strengthens India’s position as they aim to defend their title on the global stage.

Batting first after Zimbabwe won the toss, India posted a formidable total of 352/8 in their allotted 50 overs. The innings was built on a magnificent century by Vihaan Malhotra, who remained unbeaten on 109. His composed knock, which came off 107 balls, anchored the middle order and allowed other batters to play freely. Earlier, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided a blistering start with a quick-fire 52 off just 30 balls, smashing four boundaries and four sixes. Abhigyan Kundu also contributed significantly with a well-made 61, ensuring India maintained a high run rate throughout the innings.

Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batters, though Tatenda Chimugoro managed to pick up three wickets. However, the target of 353 proved to be an impossible mountain to climb for the home side.

In response, the Zimbabwe innings never really took off. The Indian bowlers maintained tight lines and took wickets at regular intervals. Zimbabwe was eventually bundled out for just 148 runs in 37.4 overs. Leeroy Chiwaula offered some resistance with a gritty 62, but he lacked support from the other end. For India, Udhav Mohan and captain Ayush Mhatre were the stars with the ball, taking three wickets each. RS Ambrish also chipped in with two crucial breakthroughs early in the innings.
