Bhubaneswar: Young Sk Shazfa Wania caused upset of the day in the nail-biting women’s singles semifinal by defeating top seed Aahan by 9-8 (5) in the second day of the 12th All Odisha Utkal Open Tennis Tournament 2026 at the Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday, being organised by ACE Tennis Club. In another semifinal match, Trisha Sahoo defeated Sanvik Mohanty 9-2.  In the women’s singles final, Shazfa will face Trisha on Sunday.

 

In the men’s semifinal on Sunday, Aditya Satapathy and Aahan Mishra will face Kamalesh Rath and Md Fardin respectively,  

 

In the U-14 girl’s singles semifinals, Sk Shazfa Wania defeated Sushree Karmakar and Prisha Sahoo edged out Sanrachana Das by 9-0 and 9-3 respectively. Similarly, in the boy’s U-14 semifinals, Suyash Pattnaik and Suryapratap Naik defeated Suresh Das and Divyesh Barik by 5-0 (rtd) and 10-0 respectively.

 

The champion and runners up of each category will receive Rs 12,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively. The semi-finalists and quarterfinalists will also get cash awards of Rs 5,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. The tournament featured a total cash award of Rs 3.50 lakhs.
