New Delhi, Dec 18: IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers on Thursday told employees that the airline has emerged stronger after a challenging phase, assuring them that “the worst is behind us” as operations have stabilised and the network has been fully restored.

In an internal communication to staff, Elbers lauded employees across departments for standing united during recent disruptions. He said IndiGo has resumed 2,200 flights a day, marking a return to normal operations.

“On December 9, I shared the stabilisation of IndiGo’s operations. Since then, we have restored our network to 2,200 flights today,” Elbers said.

He expressed gratitude to pilots, cabin crew, airport teams, operations control centre personnel, customer service staff and other departments for their dedication during the disruption, noting that the swift recovery reflected the airline’s strong teamwork and operational discipline.

“Given our scale and complexity, recovering from such a situation in a short time is a testament to our teamwork and the strength of our operating principles,” he added.

Looking ahead, the CEO said IndiGo is now focused on three priorities—building resilience, conducting a detailed root cause analysis and rebuilding systems to emerge stronger.

“Now we focus on three things: resilience, root cause analysis and rebuilding,” he said.

Elbers also addressed speculation around the incident and urged employees to remain calm, stay focused on their responsibilities and avoid engaging in rumours. He noted that the board has appointed an external aviation expert to carry out a comprehensive root cause analysis.

He further said that similar disruptions have affected major airlines globally, and while each crisis is unique, lessons from international experiences will help strengthen IndiGo’s systems.

“Today, we are 65,000 proud IndiGo colleagues, and in these 19 years, over 850 million customers have chosen to fly with us,” Elbers said.
