Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today visited the Water Resources Department at Rajiv Bhavan and reviewed the department’s ongoing activities.

During his visit, the Chief Minister first inspected the State Hydrological Data Center, where he studied detailed hydrological data related to various water reservoirs and river systems across the state. Officials explained to him the functioning of the center, which manages water resources on a real-time basis using advanced digital monitoring systems.

Majhi also visited various sub-divisions within the department and held discussions with departmental officers, engineers, and staff.

Expressing satisfaction with their work, the Chief Minister urged all employees to work with greater dedication and commitment to achieve the state government’s developmental goals.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, the Chief Minister stated that the government has set a target to provide irrigation to 15 lakh hectares of agricultural land by 2029–30.

 He emphasized that efforts are underway to ensure water reaches the tail end of every canal, thereby maximizing irrigation coverage and efficiency.

Accompanying the Chief Minister during the visit were Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department Anu Garg, Chief Engineer Chandrasekhar Padhi, and other senior departmental officials.
