Young Spaniard creates history beating Djokovic for Career Grand Slam

History was rewritten under the lights of the Rod Laver Arena this Sunday as Carlos Alcaraz claimed his first Australian Open title. In a thrilling final that tested physical limits and mental fortitude, the young Spaniard defeated 10-time champion Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5. This victory marks a monumental milestone, making Alcaraz the youngest man at 22 to complete a Career Grand Slam in the Open Era.

Djokovic, who has ruled the courts of Melbourne for over a decade, started the match with ferocious intensity. The Serbian legend looked set to claim a record-extending 25th major title after taking the first set with clinical precision, winning 93 percent of his first-serve points. He broke Alcaraz’s serve early, leaving the young challenger chasing shadows across the baseline.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the second set. Alcaraz shook off the early nerves and adjusted his game, hitting flatter and deeper forehands that pinned Djokovic back. A crucial moment arrived when the roof was closed due to rain, allowing the Spaniard to sharpen his focus. He broke Djokovic’s serve to level the match, feeding off the energy of the crowd.

As the match progressed into the third and fourth sets, the physical toll of the tournament began to show on the 38-year-old Djokovic. Alcaraz capitalized on this, using his youthful speed and relentless aggression to wear down the veteran. Despite a valiant effort from Djokovic to claw back into the fourth set, a final unforced error from his racket sealed the championship for Alcaraz.

This triumph places Carlos Alcaraz in an elite club of legends. He joins Rod Laver, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Djokovic himself as one of only six men to win all four major titles. For Djokovic, the wait for his 25th Slam continues, but Sunday night belonged entirely to the new king of tennis.
