Sambalpur, Dec 5: A final-year student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, was arrested on charges of assaulting a female student from the same university.

The incident reportedly occurred when the female student visited the rented house of the accused. According to the police complaint lodged at Burla Police Station, a verbal altercation broke out between the two, which quickly escalated into physical violence. The female student was allegedly beaten severely by the male student in the presence of others outside the campus.

It has come to light that the accused was previously expelled from the university hostel for acts of indiscipline, raising concerns over his behavior.

Following the complaint filed by the victim, the Burla Police swiftly launched an investigation. After gathering evidence and conducting necessary proceedings, the accused was arrested and forwarded to court. The police have assured that further actions will be taken as per the law.
