Bhubaneswar, February 9: In a shocking incident on Monday, more than 15 children in Odisha's Cuttack district were hospitalized after consuming ice-cream, police reported. The children, from Kumusar village in the Banki police station area, had eaten the ice cream following a religious festival.

Shortly after consuming the treat, the children began experiencing symptoms of unease, mouth irritation, and other health issues, which caused panic among the villagers. Some parents also reported feeling unwell after eating the same ice cream.

The local authorities were informed by residents, and the children were quickly rushed to the Banki sub-divisional hospital. They received treatment and were discharged later that day. The ice-cream vendor has been detained for questioning.

According to the treating doctor at the hospital, “The children’s condition is not critical. They were treated with B-complex medicines and curd, and are expected to make a full recovery within six to 12 hours.”

The cause of the children’s illness remains under investigation
