Bijapur, Oct 2: With good news on Vijay Dasami and Gandhi Jayanti for the nation, as many as 103 Maoists gunned down, did negate to violence and sought return to mainstream of the society on Thursday.

The record number of militants, surrendered before the security forces at Bijapur in Chhattisgarh today.

The mass surrender of Maoists, including 23 women, laid down their arms & ammunition and chose non-violence and peace in their lives.

According to the reports, out of 103, 49 Maoists carried a combined reward of over one crore six lakh rupees on their heads. They had been associated with various Maoist outfits for several years wreaking panic in the Chhattisgarh.

Under the State Government’s rehabilitation policy, each surrendered Maoist was given an incentive amount of Rs 50,000.

Worth mentioning, at least 410 Maoists have surrendered in the district so far this year.

On the other hand, 421 Maoists were arrested, and 137   were eliminated in different encounters.
