Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: Dense fog blanketed Bhubaneswar and nearby Cuttack on Thursday morning, reducing visibility to a dangerous 30 meters. This widespread fog also affected several other districts across Odisha, causing major disruptions in transportation and daily activities.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow warning for dense fog in multiple districts, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Koraput. The poor visibility severely impacted commuters, making travel hazardous across the region.

Reports indicated that goods-laden trucks on National Highway 16 had to stop at various points due to near-zero visibility, contributing to significant traffic congestion. The thick fog led to delays and inconvenience for daily commuters, underscoring the need for extra caution while traveling under such conditions.

Authorities have advised the public to stay updated on weather alerts and exercise caution while traveling, especially during the early morning hours when fog conditions are expected to persist.
