​​​​​​​New Delhi, Oct 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended heartfelt greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras.

Wishing happiness, prosperity, and good health, PM Modi prayed for Lord Dhanvantari’s abundant blessings on everyone.

Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, PM Modi wrote, "Heartfelt Dhanteras greetings to all my family members in the country. On this sacred occasion, I pray for everyone's happiness, prosperity, and good health. May Lord Dhanvantari bestow his abundant blessings upon all.”

It is worth noting that ‘Dhanteras’ is dedicated to the worship of Siddhi Vinayak (another form of Lord Ganesha), Goddess Mahalakshmi, the deity of wealth, and Lord Kuber, the god of prosperity. The day is considered highly auspicious for making new purchases.

Dhanvantari, worshipped on the occasion of Dhanteras, is revered as the god of Ayurveda and is believed to have taught the principles of medicine to help humanity overcome illnesses.
