A Book Worth 15 Crores? Unique Spiritual Manuscript Unveiled in Patna
A truly unique and staggering literary discovery has taken center stage at the ongoing 41st Patna Book Fair. In an event that has captured the attention of bibliophiles across the nation, including book lovers in Odisha, a new volume titled 'Main' (meaning 'I') was unveiled on Sunday. It is currently being touted as the world's costliest book, carrying an unbelievable price tag of Rs 15 crore.
The book is the creation of spiritual author Ratneshwar, who claims that this work is not merely a collection of words, but a gateway to the "supreme state of knowledge." Despite the astronomical valuation, the author insists that the pricing strategy was divine rather than commercial. Speaking to the press during the launch, Ratneshwar explained that he did not determine the cost himself. He stated that the price reflects his personal philosophy and spiritual journey, adding that God set the value, otherwise, it might have been even higher.
This rare literary work is extremely exclusive, with only three copies printed globally. Ratneshwar describes the book's content as a guide to understanding the state of enlightenment attained by figures like Gautam Buddha. It seeks to answer what exactly constitutes that final state of awakening.
However, the author clarified that the high price should not deter genuine seekers of knowledge. He emphasized that the book is not designed as a luxury item for the wealthy elite. Instead, the three existing copies will be kept at specific centers where the public can visit to view, read, and listen to the text freely. Ratneshwar urged people to approach 'Main' with sincerity rather than just curiosity about its price, inviting readers to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery through its pages.
The unveiling has added a layer of mystique to the fair, which was inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on December 5 and will continue to welcome visitors until December 16, 2025.
