Bhubaneswar: Odisha proudly welcomed the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Trophy Tour here at Kalinga Stadium on Thursday. Minister, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water of Odisha, Rabi Narayan Naik unveiled the FIH Junior World Cup trophy in the presence of Director Sports and Youth Services, Dr. Vijay Yeddula, President Hockey India and Hockey Association of Odisha, Dilip Tirkey and, senior officials of DSYS and HAO and Olympians.
The World Cup trophy will travel across 20 cities in India before returning to Tamil Nadu. The trophy arrived in Bhubaneswar city after the Patna tour and from here it will move to Assam.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said, “The idea behind the Trophy Tour is to take the excitement of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup to every corner of India. This is a historic moment for Indian hockey as we host the largest-ever edition of the Junior World Cup with 24 teams”.
The event also witnessed the unveiling of the official tournament mascot ‘Kangeyan’. Kangeyan draws its name and inspiration from the Kangeyam Kaalai, a native breed of bull symbolising strength, pride, and Tamil identity.
The trophy tour of the FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held at the SDAT-Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai from 28th November to 10 December 2025.
