Zoo keepers training programme begins at Nandankanan Zoological Park

Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: Regional zoo keepers training programme for eastern zone has been started at Nandankanan Zoological Park on Wednesday. The programme will conclude on Friday. The programme is being conducted in hybrid mode in collaboration with the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi. In this training programme 24 zoos across five states and one UT (Andaman &Nicobar) has been invited to send zoo keepers out of which 16 zoos of 5 states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Odisha has participated. The training is being conducted in hybrid mode with 21 participants attended in physical mode from 16 zoos of 5 states. Link has been sent to other participating zoos to attend on virtual mode. The objective of this training program to improve animal keeper’s knowledge and skills about the animals and their management and to develop better interaction and coordination between animal keepers and management. On the first day three resource persons having field experience and expertise in zoo management addressed the zoo keepers on different expertise in managing the zoo. The participants shared their experience on the topics. In afternoon session practical session followed by zoo visit was conducted.
