Bhubaneswar, June 4: The atmosphere of gloom caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has been impacting life everywhere, but aided by good treatment, many patients are battling the disease valiantly to ensure a new lease of life for themselves. Twenty-year-old Pratiksh Kadambalu of Muniguda in Rayagada district, a Plus Three student, was rushed to the SUM Covid Hospital for treatment in a serious condition on April 30 after testing positive for the infection. He was taken to the ICU and as his condition deteriorated, he was put on the ventilator. Subsequently, a tracheostomy was done on him to deliver oxygen to the lungs. The concerted efforts of the doctors, nurses and para-medical workers helped Pratiksh recover and he was shifted to the ward. He tested negative for Covid-19 after about a month and was discharged from the hospital. Relatives of Pratiksh said they were satisfied with the treatment provided to Pratiksh and the hospital help desk remained in continuous touch with the family. Even they were able interact with the youth through video calls. “We are grateful to the doctors and nurses for the way they took care of Pratiksh providing him a new lease of life,” Sudhir Sahu, a relative said.
