Puri, June 8: A youth was detained by police on Monday morning for allegedly attempting to steal a gold chain inside the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. The incident occurred during the Mangala Aarti when the accused, who had entered the temple posing as a devotee, was caught by plainclothes police personnel deployed on the premises.

The suspect was immediately apprehended and taken to Singhadwar Police Station for questioning. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary inquiry indicates that the youth was caught while trying to steal a gold chain from within the temple premises.
