Youth chars mother after killing her in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: A youth has charred his mother after thrashing her to death in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The incident took place at Kalinga basti (slum) under the Badagada police limit in Bhubaneswar, this evening. The accused has been identified as Prasanta Jena. Sources said, an oral exchange between Prasanta and his mother broke out in the morning over the midday meal. Following which, his mother did not provide him lunch in time. Aggrieved over it, Prasanta thrashed his mother to death. In order to evade police arrest, he charred her mother inside a room. However, locals unveiled the matter, after a fire and smoke came out of the house. Being informed, Badagada police rushed to the spot and seized the semi-burnt body of the woman. A case has been registered in this connection. Further investigation is underway, said police.
