Berhampur, July 28: A youth allegedly burnt his girlfriend alive in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday night. The incident took place at Pratapur village under Purushottampur police limits. According to reports, accused Krushna Chandra Sahu of Pratapur was in a relationship with a girl of Kalamba village in Balipadar area of the district. Krushna Chandra first approached the girl to come to his village. As she reached, he took the girl to an abandoned house and allegedly set her ablaze by pouring petrol on her. Hearing the screams of the girl for help, locals rushed to the spot and informed the police, who rescued the girl in a half-charred state. However, she succumbed to her burn injuries in the hospital. The police have arrested the accused.
