Youth arrested for peddling illegal cough syrup, brown sugar in Khordha

Khordha, Oct 22: Excise officials have arrested a youth from Gurujang village under the Khordha Model police limit on Friday in connection with trading illegal cough syrup and brown sugar. The accused has been identified as Amresh Behera. Sources said Amresh had stored a huge quantity of alcohol-based cough syrup and brown sugar for trade. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar excise officials got tip-off regarding it. Acting on the input, an excise team conducted a raid and seized 700 bottles of cough syrup,30 grams of brown sugar and cash worth Rs 49,570 from Behera’s possession. Subsequently, Behera was arrested under NDPS Act and forwarded to court.
