Puri, Aug 5: A man from Gujarat, identified as Bipul Patel, was caught on Monday trying to enter the Puri Jagannath Temple premises with a hidden camera fitted inside his glasses.
Temple security stopped Patel near the 'Kirtana Chakada' area after noticing suspicious behaviour.
On checking, they found a spy camera embedded in his spectacles. He was immediately handed over to Singhadwar Police.
A case has been registered against him under the Temple Act 30A, 4C. Police are now questioning him to find out his motive and whether others are involved.
The Jagannath Temple is a high-security area with a strict no-camera policy. Authorities have taken the incident seriously and launched a detailed investigation.
This is the second such case in recent days. A local youth from Puri was also caught recently trying to enter the temple with similar spy camera glasses.
Police sources confirmed that security personnel have received special training to detect such hidden devices. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the use of spy gadgets at sensitive religious places.
