Yajna for Puri heritage corridor project begins, CM to lay foundation stone

Puri, Nov 22: The three-day-long yajna before ‘Bhumi Pujan’ of the Parikrama Yojana or the Sri Jagannath Temple heritage corridor project has started outside the 12th-century shrine. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the heritage corridor project and perform the Purna Ahuti of the yajna on November 24. Sankaracharya of Gobardhan peeth Swamy Nischalananda Saraswati will be present on the occasion. As part of the project, there will be a seven-lane wide pathway around the Meghnad Prachir of the Sri Jagannath Temple. As per sources, the tender of the project with an estimated cost of Rs 331.28 crore has been given to the Tata projects. The completion of the project is targeted within the next two years. The project includes the construction of a 7 lane wide pathway along with the temple boundary for the devotees to circumambulate the shrine and a separate lane for the deities. Apart from that, 4 security towers on the four sides of the corridor, cloak room and underground parking will also be constructed.
