World Parkinson’s Day 2022: IMS&SUM Hospital waves mass sensitization on Integrating health care

Bhubaneswar, April 12: Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and SUM Hospital in Odisha has celebrated World Parkinson’s Day-2022 on Tuesday. Working out on the theme, ‘Integrating Health Care: All Under One Roof’, the Department of Neurology created mass sensitization on Parkinson’s disease, its malignity towards mankind and the ways of eradication, through its plethora of programs. A Walkathon in the morning was organised in this connection before the blood bank of the SUM Hospital which was flagged off by ace Neuro-Surgeon and Vice-Chancellor of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan(SOA) Deemed to be University, Prof. Dr Ashok Kumar Mahapatra. Among others, Medical Superintendent, Prof. Dr Pusparaj Samantsinghar, Head of Neurology Department, Associate Prof. Dr Srikant Sahu, Dr Lulup Sahu, Dr Srimant Pattnaik, Dr Sukriya, Dr Tanaya Mishra, Dr Ajit Mishra, Dr Ranjan Mohanty and Dr Surya Prakash Choudhury participated in the awareness walk in order to mark the occasion. Subsequently, a symposium on Parkinson’s disease was organized among the doctors and the health care providers where Prof. Mohapatra vividly explained the sign-symptoms, causes, and remedies of Parkinson’s disease. Apart from it, Prof. Samantsinghar, HOD ((Neurology ), Dr Sahu shed light on the disease in view of managing it with medication, Yoga, and interventions of other physical remedies. Meanwhile, Dr Lulup Sahu presented a dissertation on the topic with a reference to its global matrix.
