Bhubaneswar, July 19: A high-level workshop on the execution of Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 was held at Kharavel Bhavan here today under the theme “Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat.”
The session was chaired by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Usha Padhee and facilitated by experts from McKinsey & Company, the strategic knowledge partner for the vision document. The workshop aimed to align Odisha’s developmental roadmap with the national goal of transforming India into a developed country by 2047.
The session outlined the state’s long-term aspirations, including achieving a GSDP of USD 1.5 trillion by 2047, contributing 5% to India’s GDP, and generating over 1 crore non-farm jobs. The “Vision 2036 & 2047” is anchored on six core themes—People First, Rural Empowerment, Prosperity for All, Legacy with Pride, Tech-led Growth, and People-Centric Governance. A key highlight was the presentation of the “36 for 36” flagship programmes, designed to accelerate transformation across sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, skilling, agriculture, and climate resilience.
During the deliberations, participants reviewed sample execution models, including a detailed plan for Sambalpur Municipal Corporation, showcasing how the vision will translate into on-ground action.
Padhee emphasized the need for robust institutional capacity, data-driven governance, and strong collaboration among departments to ensure timely delivery and measurable outcomes. The workshop also introduced mechanisms like real-time dashboards, embedded Project Monitoring Units, and a Whole-of-Government approach for seamless execution.
To realize the vision of Viksit Odisha, the Commerce & Transport and Housing & Urban Development Departments have been entrusted with specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assigned responsibilities across various developmental projects.
The workshop was attended by senior officers from both the departments, who shared insights on inter-departmental coordination and the role of infrastructure and urban transformation in shaping a developed and inclusive Odisha.
