Indian archers delivered a masterclass on Wednesday, securing the women's compound archery team gold by defeating China 238-234 at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi, and Prithika Pradeep held control from the opening rotation to claim the top step of the podium. Their score of 238 matched the longstanding world record set by South Korea in 2014. This victory marks India's seventh gold medal of the competition, pushing the overall medal tally to 53, consisting of 7 gold, 21 silver, and 25 bronze.

Earlier in the day, the trio navigated a nail-biting semifinal against powerhouse South Korea, edging through 235-233. South Korea wiped out a deficit to level the match at 175-175 entering the decisive exchanges. India held nerve under pressure, as late tens from Taniparthi and Pradeep alongside a nine from Vennam carved out a narrow two-point margin. Compound archery continues to serve as a reliable medal powerhouse for Indian sports, reflecting years of sustained investment in grassroots talent and mental conditioning across national academies.
