Soro, Mar 11: A group of women have staged protest in front of Simulia police station in Balasore district after the priest of a Shiv temple prohibited them from entering into the temple to perform ‘puja’ on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
The incident has been reported from Chalunigaon village.
According to reports, a group of 10 women of a particular clan had gone to Rameswar temple to offer prayers in the morning.
However, priest of the temple stopped them from entering the temple and allegedly hurled casteist remarks at them.
The women also alleged that the priest misbehaved with them.
Later, the women filed a written complaint at Similula police station and staged a protest there. Acting on their complaint, the police reached the temple and initiated a probe into the matter.
