Delhi, August 24: While self-immolation cases in Odisha have almost snatched sound-sleep from cops’ eyes, a married woman was reportedly set on fire and charred to death in the National Capital today.
This time the horrifying case of domestic violence and dowry death, took place in a Greater Noida village.
The deceased mid-age woman has been identified as Nikki.
According to the complaint filed by Nikki’s paternal family, she was allegedly beaten, set on fire, and left to die by her husband and in-laws in Sirsa village. The inhumane act was only for a Rs 40 lakh dowry.
The harrowing incident came to limelight after the entire episode went viral on social media and wreaked massive outrage in the area. The videograb contained that the woman was doused with inflammable liquid and set on fire before her kids.
On being informed by the neighbors, police rushed to spot and rushed the victim to the Safdarjung Hospital. However, she succumbed to injureies en-route.
The accused husband was held. Efforts are on to nab other co-accused, who are at large, said the police.
