Sambalpur, Nov 13: Vigilance sleuths today arrested Junior Engineer (JE) of Deogaon block, in Balangir district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe. Vigilance sleuths said that the JE identified as Krushna Priya Mandal has demanded bribe of Rs 5000 from a beneficiary for clearing his pending bill towards construction of cow shed built under MGNREGS scheme. Accordingly, a trap was laid on Saturday and the accused was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance. “The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. In this connection, a case has been registered and further investigation is continuing,” said an official. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the properties of Mandal at two places in Balangir district.
