Balangir, July 9: A woman Gynaecologist in Odisha was rescued from a hospital lift after a long operation on Wednesday.
The incident took place at the Titlagarh Medical College & Hospital (MCH) in the Balangir district today where the fire services team became the savior, according to sources.
According to reports, Gynaecologist Dr Kiranmayee Panda of the Titlagarh MC&H entered the hospital lift to come down the building. Meanwhile, the lift malfunctioned and stopped working in mid-way. As a result, the doctor was stuck there and dialed fire services wing for assistance.
Upon receiving the alert, personnel from the local fire station rushed to the spot who opened the lift and rescued the doctor unharmed after a tiring operation.
The incident wreaked panic among the staff, patients and their attendants, to use lifts also in other adjacent buildings for a quite long time.Meanwhile, they demanded regular check-up of the efficiency & proper maintenance of the hospital lifts.
